Notes
Gift for members and family of the band, 6 made.contains the note:
"I'm happy to present you with a sampling of MUIAC, with selections from both the album sessions and live band recordings. This is a lathe cut record, not a vinyl pressing. It's rough around the edges (quite literally), giving the record a bootleg feel. Each copy was made in real time, by the hand of Tyler Bisson in Bethel, CT. Side A has TB@ etched in the center edge, and side B will be the reverse. Only six were made, for Ruehlen, Staab, True, Zamrzla, Conner, and I.
Playback notes: 33.3 RPM. The machines used to make lathe cuts are 50's tube technology, and have an inherent sonic aesthetic that essentially conveys a multi-generation tape-dub quality. If the playback appears very fuzzy in one channel, try resetting the needle. It may take a few tries. Keep in mind there will always be a low signal-to-noise ratio, especially on side B. Playing them will also require a a moderate effort. The lead-in grooves are very short, so you may have to eyeball the needle position to get it to catch. I also suggest increasing the tracking force (tonearm weight dial) to 2-2.5 grams if your turntable has the ability. Enjoy!
Even with these shortcomings, I am excited that your music is on a somewhat-permanent analog medium.
Thank you for the amazing times and music. Love, Alex."
