Notes

Hegedős, which has existed in its present shaped since 1997, is one of the best groups on the musical scene of Budapest. This band of professional musicians is devoted to performing, teaching and researching on traditional Hungarian music andd the various vocal and instrumental styles of the Carpathian Basin.

In Central Europe, the traditional musical culture has remained a living reality. This has allowed the musicians of Hegedős to carry out their own collecting throughout the country, and the experience thus gathered makes up the musical image of the group. They get more out of the proximity of this culture and the training with village musicians than out of technical mastery and the broadening of the repertoire.
The men and women with whom they have learn the songs and dances on the present CD have never studied music.
