Jim Turner is one of America’s veteran traditional jazz pianists.
As a band pianist, he has enjoyed tenures with two of the U.S.’s finest traditional jazz bands, Bob Ringwald’s Great Pacific Jazz Band and the Jim Cullum Jazz Band. Turner may still be heard on the Jim Cullum Jazz Band’s weekly nationally syndicated radio program “Riverwalk Jazz” on the PRI Radio Network.
Turner has recorded four piano solo albums including “Jim Turner’s Jelly Roll Blues” on Arbors Records, a tribute to the early jazz master Jelly Roll Morton. He also appears on various traditional jazz band CDs including “Chasin’ The Blues” with the Jim Cullum Jazz Band (Riverwalk Jazz).
Born and raised in Southern California, Turner has also enjoyed a career as a record producer, having worked with such artists as Floyd Cramer, Teddy Wilson, Dick Hyman, Oscar Peterson, George Shearing and Chick Corea.
Turner lives in Los Angeles, California.
