Nordheim meets Beethoven

Einar Steen-Nøkleberg creates a meeting of masters outside the trodden
path: Arne Nordheim probes into and behind the sound of the piano - meeting
ideas and processes from the last sonata of Beethoven.

Sometimes a recording project grows and finds it shape all by itself. The
seed was planted when Arne Nordheim in detail presented his only work for
piano, drawing lines back to the work Beethoven did in his last piano
sonata. Just how great this really could be was clear when the electronics
of "Listen Inside-Outside" was ready in 2005, premiered by Einar
Steen-Nøkleberg. And then it all burst out into full bloom during the
Nordheim Composer Prize Award that same year, when this live recording of
Inside-Outside was made.
